Early Childhood Educators in centers and family homes care for our children and deserve to earn a wage that allows them to thrive. We have begun pathing a way towards pay parity for lead and assistant ECEs. Next we are working towards the same for directors and administrators. We have also played a role in gaining access to quality healthcare for the childcare sector.
We are now working towards reducing the cost of childcare for families earning up to 300% of the poverty level in DC. Which is approximately $90k for a family of four. We advocate for programs that center on developing the social, emotional and cognitive skills of children ages birth to three, the first 1,000 days.

We continue to advocate for access to healthcare for all people living in America. Beginning with DC. Access to healthcare is one step, we also need to expand the ability to use healthcare. Our report being created in partnership with the Center for Popular Democracy on healthcare access in DC is expected to be released in late March.
Healthcare is a right not a privilege

We advocate for support for people who are pregnant and the first year after giving birth. The year after birthing a child is a prime time for postpartum depression to set in. It can impact the person who gave birth but also their partner. Mental health support matters and can save a life. We advocate for Centering Pregnancy and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Syndrome programs.
We must care for DC’s babies as our own because it takes a community to raise a child. We advocate for health programs that center the physical and cognitive development of children ages birth to five. Programs such as Healthy Steps, and Healthy Futures.
